Frank Abdale has been an executive, consultant and board member in the nonprofit sector for twenty years. Mr. Abdale has served as a consultant to several corporate foundations, including Altria Group, Inc. and MAC AIDS Fund (MAF) to help design their grant application and evaluation processes. As Executive Director of the Association of Nutrition Services Agencies (ANSA 2002-2008), he positioned ANSA as a national partner for Altria Group, Inc., making funding recommendations for three annual grant initiatives, reading and evaluating more than 400 proposals per year. He recently worked with MAF to redesign their community-based grants RFP, reviewed more than 200 proposals per year and made funding recommendations for each one.
Since 2009, Mr. Abdale Frank has served as Co-Chair of the Board of the Association of Nonprofit Specialists (ANS), a professional association of individual consultants and institutions providing management assistance to the nonprofit community of greater New York. ANS provides education and networking opportunities for its diverse membership, who represent all aspects of the management assistance universe – consultants, funders, academics, government agencies and nonprofit leaders.
Mr. Abdale conducts many workshops and board-level trainings related to fundraising, board development, strategic planning, advocacy and collaboration. He taught Fundraising Concepts and Practices at the New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies. He is the author and editor of numerous articles, brochures, website pages, direct mail pieces, white papers, grant proposals, technical manuals and pieces of legislation. His publications include:
